Sync your Lovable or Bolt project to GitHub

Send your Lovable or Bolt project to GitHub in about 2 minutes, so LetMeCheck can read your code.

    ON THIS PAGE

LetMeCheck reads your code from GitHub. If you built your app in Lovable or Bolt, send a copy of the project to GitHub first. It takes about 2 minutes, and you only do it once.

    Why GitHub?#

A website check only sees the outside of your app, the same view a visitor gets. Database rules, login logic and API routes live in your code, and that's often where the serious problems are. GitHub is where LetMeCheck reads that code.

    Before you start#

    You need:

    • A free GitHub account at github.com
    • Your project open in Lovable or Bolt
    NOTE

Both tools create a private repository for you. Private repositories work fine with LetMeCheck.

    Lovable#

    1. Open your project, then go to Project settings → Git → GitHub. You can also reach it from the + button next to the chat box, under Project → GitHub.
    2. Click Add connection, then Add account if Lovable asks. A GitHub window opens.
    3. Pick your GitHub account, choose which repositories Lovable can use, and click Install & Authorize.
    4. Back in the project's GitHub settings, click Connect next to your account.
    5. Lovable creates a new repository and keeps it in sync. Click View on GitHub to see it.
    NOTE

Only a workspace owner or admin can add the GitHub connection. If you're not one, ask whoever owns the workspace.

    WARNING

Don't delete the repository on GitHub. Lovable stops syncing if you do.

For the latest screens, see Lovable's GitHub guide.

    Bolt#

    1. Open your project and click the GitHub icon in the top right.
    2. Click Log in to GitHub, then Authorize to approve Bolt's request.
    3. Click Install the GitHub App, choose which repositories Bolt can use, and confirm on the GitHub page.
    4. Click the GitHub icon again, type a name for the repository and click Create repository.
    5. Click Start building to go back to your project.
    NOTE

Bolt needs a personal GitHub account, and only the project owner can connect GitHub.

For the latest screens, see Bolt's GitHub guide.

    Replit, Cursor and other tools#

Most tools have a Git or source control panel. Open it in your project and look for an option to connect, publish or push to GitHub. Create a new repository when it asks.

If your code only lives on your computer:

    1. On github.com, click New repository, name it and create it.
    2. On the new repository's page, click Add file → Upload files and drag your project folder in.
    3. Click the button to commit the files.

Browser uploads allow up to 100 files at a time, so for a bigger project use GitHub Desktop, which uploads the whole folder.

    WARNING

Leave out secret files such as .env, and the node_modules folder. Neither belongs on GitHub.

    Connect it to LetMeCheck#

Once your project is on GitHub, connect the repository to LetMeCheck. Connect GitHub to scan your code for free.

The steps, and the permissions we ask for, are in Connect GitHub. Run a new full check from LetMeCheck whenever you want your latest code looked at.

    If it doesn't work#

    • I can't see my repository in LetMeCheck. You choose which repositories we can read, so we only list the ones you picked. In GitHub, go to Settings → Applications → Installed GitHub Apps, click Configure next to LetMeCheck and add the repository.
    • My repository is private. That's fine. See Private repositories.
    • The repository belongs to an organisation. An owner may need to approve LetMeCheck first. See Organisation repositories.
    • Nothing happens when I click Add account or Connect in Lovable. Your browser may be blocking the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for Lovable and try again.
    • Bolt isn't sending changes to GitHub. On the Bolt homepage, click GitHub below the chat box, then Configure the GitHub App, and approve it again.
